In Science class, our 1st Grade students have become a team of scientists to discover... how plants grow!
Over the past few weeks, we have been working on a project in which the children investigate what plants need to grow healthy. To do this, we have designed a simple classroom experiment that allows us to compare different situations and observe what happens in each case.
Over the past few weeks, we have been working on a project in which the children investigate what plants need to grow healthy. To do this, we have designed a simple classroom experiment that allows us to compare different situations and observe what happens in each case.
We have planted several seeds under different conditions: one plant with light and water, one plant without water, and one plant without light. Throughout the days, the students carefully observe what happens to each one and record the results. Which one grows the most? Which one changes color? What happens when something important is missing?
Beyond planting seeds, this project is allowing us to take our first steps toward the scientific method. In 1st Grade, we don't just learn content; we learn to think, investigate, and discover. And we do this by experimenting, asking questions, comparing results, and sharing our ideas.
